Warhammer - Tetto'Eko - Astromancer of the Constellations, The Beholder

This little guy has been a work in progress for some time. He's Tetto'Eko - Astromancer of the Constellations, The Beholder - a hero from the Lizardmen army.

I kitbashed him from leftover bits and pieces from the Stegadon box, a couple of 40mm square bases, a flying stand, and some plasticard offcuts. Most of the effort was in the thinking and painting. Actually putting together was relatively simple by comparison.

Resting at his feet is a crystal skull, like that found in the jungle in Belize. To me it looks quite crystal-like in the photos. Not so much in reality ;-)

Anyway, I hope you enjoy him. Remember to click for larger versions of the images.

Bug Planet Terrain II

This is the second batch of terrain for my sci-fi planet setting. I'm calling these "egg pods" due to their shape but I'm not implying anything will "hatch" unless a scenario merits that I suppose.

The "eggs" are polystyrene shapes from a craft shop, backed up with more gum nuts, cat litter and flock/foliage. Size-wise these are on coasters, so roughly 10cm in diameter. All up they cost about $1.20 each including the MDF coaster bases. I plan to scatter these across the table accompanied by a couple of the smaller gum nut only versions, as if these larger patches have release spores, leading to new growths nearby.

Next up is a couple of sulphurous ponds (cheekily copied from Matakishi) and a large collection of rock formations made from old wine bottle corks. Yes, really... ;-)

Let me know what you think!

It's an ugly planet! A bug planet!

Since I'm waiting on various orders for my second Gruntz force I decided to knock out some quick sci-fi terrain. So far I've finished nine arid/desert hills of various sizes and now these - some sort of alien plant life.

It's amazing what you can make with gum nuts, cat litter, some MDF bases and a little imagination. If these cost $1 each I'd be surprised. I'm so happy with them I'm going to use them as a theme for some larger terrain pieces.

I've included some of my New Israeli troops for scale but these will work well for both 15mm and 28mm games which is great from my POV. Less effort, more use.

Let me know what you think...

Gruntz 15mm New Israeli Arid Expeditionary Force

Hi All,

This is my first force for the excellent Gruntz 15mm sci-fi skirmish rules. The miniatures are all from Ground Zero Games and comprise a selection of New Israeli hardsuit infantry and various armoured hover vehicles.

Remember to click for larger versions of the images.

I'm fielding them as an expeditionary force properly called the New Israeli Arid Expeditionary Force (NIAEF), more commonly known as the "Khamsin" (desert windstorm), hence the thunderbolt markings.

The force so far comprises:

*** HQ ***
1 x Commander
1 x Specialist (Medic)
1 x Specialist (Engineer)
1 x Gauntlet III Hover Command APC
1 x Hover MAWP with Gauss Cannon
1 x Hover MAWP with Plasma Cannon

*** Mobile Infantry Platoon ***
2 x Rifle Sections (8: Officer, Gauss SAW Gunner, Missile Launcher, 5 x Gruntz with Gauss Rifles)
1 x Rifle Section (8: Officer, Gauss SAW Gunner, Heavy Sniper Rifle, 5 x Gruntz with Gauss Rifles)
3 x Gauntlet III Hover APCs

*** Armoured Platoon ***
3 x Romell III Hover Tanks with Mass Driver Cannons

*** Support Platoon ***

1 x Romell III Hover Missile Launcher

Once they arrive from GZG I'll also be adding:

*** Support Platoon ***
2 x Gauss Heavy MG Sections

*** Recon Platoon ***
4 x Jetbikes

I've got a second force in the mail from various manufacturers. Once they're done I can get a few games under my belt. In the meantime I'm going to knock out a few terrain pieces in the form of off-world colony buildings.

In case people who know me are concerned I'm going soft I've got plans for another three forces. ;-)

Till next time,
Millsy
